Loading Bay Studio is a research driven workshop practise run by a consortium of industry-leading production design experts with diverse experience in the international performing arts and commercial design industries.

We conduct structure and process research in order to deliver project-specific designs powering temporary interventions in London’s environment, working with local authorities, communities and public spaces.

Our practice focuses on environmentally conscious and ecologically optimised research-based design, working with commissioners and communities on collaborative concept development to generate performance structures, meeting the handling and application challenges of the 21st century.

The practice facilitates ongoing practical evolution of a body of technical and process innovations. Our goal is to expand the practical possibilities of the contemporary post-globalisation culture’s engagement with arts, performance, architectural design, space and place, activity and economy, town planning and public amenity, and the ongoing societal negotiation with the complex informational, social, energetic and material dynamics of the manmade and natural environment.

While our work and experience is diverse, our projects are connected by the focus on building and enhancing human relationships through practical, deployable productions and designs that deliver shared and profound experiences of the state of the art of aesthetics and engineering.
